Chinese behavior and Americans behavior-Lee

Have you ever compared the countries in the East with the countries in the West? Do you feel confused when you go to other countries? China and America are both big countries. But one is in the East and the other is in the West. China has a long history for 5000 years. On the other hand, America has a relatively shout history. As a result, it's interesting to find differences in behavior between Chinese and Americans. In my opinion, Chinese behavior and American behavior vary in the way they participate in a party, the way they communicate and the behavior in traffic.
First, Chinese and Americans believe differently at parties. Have you been to the party in America? On weekend nights, there are too many parties. People talk with others and drink beer. They dance and sing. Americans consider weekends as a crazy time. They release themselves. However, in China, people often stay at home on weekends. They watch TV and talk with their family and friends. Chinese people consider weekends a time as a holiday when you should have a good sleep. At a party, Chinese people often sit around the table and have dinner. They have a drink without music. They prefer to talk with others in a quiet environment.
Why do Americans and Chinese have different kinds of parties? Maybe because they have different style of communicating with others. Americans often do what they want to do. So the way they talk with others is very direct. If they think it is right, they will say yes. If not, they will say no. Another difference is that Americans communicate casually with strangers. In America, they often say hello on street. However, in China, people do not do the same thing. You might say" I think so, but..." or "Maybe you are right, and I also think..." and so on. If you talk with others directly, sometimes, they think you are rude. Finally, in China, people say nothing to strangers. Perhaps because China has a larger population.
Because of the population differences, Chinese and Americans have different way to behave in traffic. In America, drivers will let people go first. On the other hand, in China, people will let the cars go first or a group of people cross the road together. Because if Chinese people go across the road one by one, the traffic will become jam. So when Chinese go to America, they are used to waiting in the side of the road and American drivers stop to wait them to cross the road. It is funny.
Different cultures let people chose different lifestyle. Just like Americans and Chinese. They have different behavior in the way they participate in a party, the way they communicate and the way they behave in traffic. Of course, people who live in their own countries are comfortable. If you go abroad, you should learn how to understand other countries' behaviors.

    1. Of couse! My friend took me to the party! If you have time on weekend nights, you can walk around New Paltz! You can hear the town is noisy! And people stand in a long line outside the bar. That's crazy! You should participate in the Amercians' party once if you have time! -Lee

  4. Haha, Lee, that last picture makes me laugh out loud! I have a question for you Lee: do you think that the difference in the behavior of people in traffic varies based on the place they are in within the same country? For example, in a small town, drivers are more likely to stop for the pedestrian but in a city, the driver doesn't stop. So, in small towns in China, does the driver ever stop for the pedestrian? Do you know?

    1. Never. If you have a chance go to China, it's very important. In small towns, there are not many cars on the roads, so many cars drives very fast. They never stop to wait you to go across the road. Be careful, you will have a nice trip in my country! :)-Lee

  6. I like Chinese style! I don't like to dance and sing in the party, so I like Chinese party!
and it's interesting that Chinese people lt the car go first. In Japan, it depends on driver's character! If the driver is kind, they wait for people to cross the street! Which culture do you like in America and China?
