If you are a foreigner, have you ever visited different part of China? China is a country with a vast territory. It consists of 34 provinces, which are divided into two different parts: North and South.  North and South China differ in weather, food and the behavior of people.

First, the weather is not the same. The North has four seasons. The spring is warm, summer is hot and rainy, fall is cool, and winter is cold and dry. However, the North will snow in winter, but in the South, but in the winter is mild. The summer is hot too and winter is mild. The climate is relatively wet. The South is more rainy during winter months.

The weather affects how the people chose different kinds of food. Northerners like to eat noodles. People who live North usually eat different types of seafood, and it’s very fresh. However, in the South, Southerners like to eat rice, and the wet weather causes people to like to eat spicy food, for example, hot pot. Wherever you go, there will be delicious food.

Last, the behavior of people is diverse. The Northerners personality is straightforward so they solve the problems very directly and they are strong. On the other hand, the Southerners look short, but they are very smart to deal with problems in their work.

North varies in weather, food and behavior of people between from South. Each part has the particular feature. If you go to these two places, you should follow and adapt to the local customs, then respect their culture. Also I hope more people get to know their dissimilar. After all, they are indispensable.

  1. Lia,
Which part of China are you from? What kind of Chinese food do you prefer: northern or southern? When you return to China to live/work, do you plan to live in the north or the south?

  6. If I choose to go to China, I would go to the south of China for two reasons, first, because I like Rice :). Second, I think the behavior there is friendly so I can learn more about the culture. That's why I choose south.
