Most Memorable Trip

Have you ever heard of " Mohonk Mountain" in New Paltz? Have you ever gone there? I went there with my friends on 10th of November in the morning. The weather was lovely and warm, and the sun was bright. So we decided to go Mohonk Mountain on that day.

We planned to wake up at 9:00 am, then go up to Mohonk Mountain at 9:30 am. Unexpectedly, we were sluggish in bed until 9:30 am. So, we cleaned up and dressed up in 25 minutes, and drove to the mountain excitedly. Lately, after we picked up the rest of 4 people, we started to hike.

Unfortunately, on that day, there was no bus available to go up to Mohonk Mountain House. We had to go through the forest to get to Mohonk House. The path of the wood thickly covered with many dead brown leaves. We walked on the path of the forest, and made the dead leaves rustled around us. There's a hint of winter smell of the air. I know that means winter is coming soon.

Before we arrived the Mohonk House, we thought we might take the wrong route. When we arrived at the Mohonk House, all of us were so excited. We were planning to go boating at frist, but unfortunately, the place for boating was closed. We all felt very dejected. However, the nice thing was we saw a young couple was taking their wedding photo in front of the lake. It was really romantic. They were holding a wedding at Mohonk House. After they took photos, they went to the restaurant. I think that is the reason why there were few tourists at that day.

Not long after we finished lunch, we proceeded up the hill. By the time we got to the top of the hill, the scenery of the Mohonk Mountain was beautiful beyond description. There was an artificial lake in the shape of a heart and a stone castle. We took a lot of pictures there and we met a couple the husband said that he graduated from SUNY New Paltz 20 years ago. It was amazing!

After we said goodbye to them and went down the top of the hill. We saw a huge and bare ginkgo tree there. The lawn is covered with fallen ginkgo leaves. When Qiqi, Chong, Peter, Winnie and Patrick grabbed a handful of the leaves and threw them to the sky, the picture was awesome.

Although I was so tired after that day, I'm really happy to hang out with my friends at Mohonk Mountain. The air of the mountain was really fresh and it felt good to exercise. This trip became an unforgettable memory in my life in New Paltz.

  5. Dandan,
I've been to Mohonk Mountain House before but I've never been to the tower. You chose a beautiful day to go! How much does it cost to drive up there and park? There is an entrance fee, right?
