Effects Of Air Pollution

Khanh Dao
Have you ever imagined how air pollution effects people around the world? There are a lot of causes for air pollution including smoke from vehicles, factories, or even cigarettes. Air pollution effects people’s health, the ecosystem and the ozone layer.
First of all, air pollution largely effects people’s health. Among people, high-risk groups such as the elderly, infants and pregnant woman are more susceptible to air pollution. Because of their weak body’s resistance, so they can easily suffer lots of diseases such as coughing, eye irritation and even cardiovascular diseases. For example, toward the pregnancy, when they live in a polluted environment, their health would be affected by smoke from vehicles as well as smoke emitted from factories. In smoke, there are a lot of harmful chemicals such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide, so when these chemical goes through their body, it cause lots of diseases from the eyes to the lungs. That not only effects the woman but also their child. The worst thing is that they might have miscarriage.
Second of all, air pollution effects the ecosystem. If the environment is polluted, it might cause smog. When the atmosphere contains large amounts of smog, it contributes to the formation of acid rain. When the acid rain occurs, the nutrition in the soil would be washed. Besides, some harmful chemicals in acid rain such as acid sulfuric and acid nitric can be absorbed by plant roots and poison to the plant. Moreover, air pollution can be harm water resources. As a result, it can cause diseases to people when they use water.
Finally, air pollution seriously effects the ozone layer. When the environment is polluted, it has lots of harmful chemicals. When these chemicals spread out everywhere, the amount of oxygen will decrease. As we know, the ozone is made from oxygen, so the ozone layer might be gone. As a result, there will be no layer to protect the earth, so the chance of harmful rays of sun that come to earth will increase. The worst thing is that the earth can be destroyed.
As we have seen, air pollution is really dangerous for humans. It can effects people’s health, the ecosystem and the ozone layer. People around the world need to do lots of things to lower the air pollution including stop using motorbikes, enforce penalties for factories that release air pollution to the atmosphere. In these ways, the earth can be safe.
