My new life in New Paltz

         You’ll never know what will happen when you study abroad, and how to adapt to life in a different country. Actually this is my second time leaving home in order to start my studies. I still remember in July 2011, the fear I felt because it was my first time leaving home. The same situation I met in August 2012.

         Time goes by. I can’t believe my first semester in the US will be finished soon. Back to 4 months ago, the first time I came to the US. Everything was unfamiliar to me. There was no friend, no mom, and the worst was I was afraid to communicate with Americans. However, all my suitemates were native Americans, but my roommates never talked with me. This made me so frustrated. I’ve had a really hard time.

         But now, I feel I’m getting stronger because I have confidence to control everything around me, even though my English is still very poor. Another significant thing is that I have a conversation partner, we meet every Wednesday, and I think it was helped me a lot to get over chatting with foreigners. Furthermore, I talk daily with my suitemates. They are so nice which was really made me feel more comfortable studying alone in a foreign country. As for the class, in my opinion, the teachers in the US have a lot of energy. They always use body language to describe one thing. It’s very cute, and also makes us have a lot of fun.

          In addition to my school work, I made a lot of friends here. It’s so exciting for me because they are from all around the world. I learned about a lot of cultures from different countries. They are very interesting to. Because learned about these cultures, it has helped me get along well with foreigners. Moreover, New Paltz always organizes   activities. It’s so enjoyable to take a journey with friends.

          I’m so happy that finally I adapted to the life in New Paltz, and love the life in New Paltz. This is a good beginning, which gave me more energy anticipation for the next semester. I love my friends, my teachers and the beautiful school here.
