My semester in New Paltz-Lee

Even though I have studied far away from my hometown for seven years, here is the first that I study abroad. Before I came to America, I imaged that what does this place look like? And would I have a happy time in the New Paltz? Are the people there friendly? Would I have a high score in there? Too many questions are in my mind. Whatever, finally I came to the American.

       I still remember the day I was the first time in New Paltz. Everything seems quiet and peace. You can see the squirrels and rabbits ran on the grass. The air here is cleaner. What made me surprised people said hello to others on the road! It never happened in my own country! Everybody seems friendly! At that time, I believe that I will find more differences in the New Paltz. I should learn more information from the people who live here.

       Before I came to the American, my aunt helped me to rant a room. Therefore, the first person I met here is my roommate Kumar. That also the first time I live with a foreigner. He is a nice guy. At the beginning, I was curious about everything. and he brought me to many places in New Paltz. Such as the library, the bars and the supermarkets. During this time, I met many friends. I always consider him as a gift who the god give to me. He helped me to hold the Halloween party at home. He brought me to the Niagara Falls. However, not only Kumar helps me, but also others.

       After the beginning of this semester, I made friends with many pupils. I think I am fortunate. Because the people here are very friendly. Not only the Chinese are nice, but also the foreigners. As time elapses, they help me to del with many kinds of problems and help me to get better. Even though we have vary culture. I also learn many knowledge from them. For example, after I came to the America, I always reminded me to respect others’ culture. However, since I lack of knowledge I hurt others unwittingly. They try to explain to me instead of complaining. On the other hand, we have the cross culture class. Thank for Khanh, Carmina, Sayo, Raja, Husam, Mody! You teach me the knowledge all around the world! By the way, I wish Husam and Raja’s baby will happy and health! Best wishes!

Of course, I can’t forget the goal. Why I came to the New Platz? Study! Professors are try their best to teach us. Sometimes we are looked like the children who can not speak, aren’t we? They teach us like the way which our parents teach us. They alway let us speak english again and again. It seems none of their business. However, they only want us to practice English every time. To be honest, before I came to the America, I was afraid to speak with foreigners. I was always afraid of make mistakes. They encouraged me to speak out. And they organized many activities to help us to improve English.

The activities gave me a lot of fun. Game club is my favourite activity. Least time I went to game club and played a game called “Scratch”. The game is you scratch 7 letters from a bag and try to connect them to a word. How many letters you use this time, you can get the same number of new letters. And you put the word on the game board. Every letter has its own score. What’s more, there has some lattices you can get double or treble score! What you should do is get more scores than your opponents. Even though I lost the game finally, I learn same words form others and review them.

This semester I also go to many place, such as Washington DC and West Point. In a word, this semester is an amazing semester! I hope next semester also marvelous!
